What they are
Fireflies
Fireflies is an AI meeting assistant that deploys a bot named Fred into your Zoom, Google Meet, Teams, or Webex calls to record, transcribe, and summarize conversations automatically. It builds a searchable archive of your entire meeting history, extracts action items, and on Business plans pushes notes directly into Salesforce or HubSpot. The free tier is usable for light testing, but the 800-minute storage cap and limited AI credits make it impractical for daily professional use.
Sonix
Sonix is an automated transcription service that converts audio and video files into text using AI, then lets you search, edit, and export transcripts in multiple formats. Journalists, podcasters, researchers, and video producers use it to speed up post-production workflows. Transcription accuracy is solid for clear audio but drops noticeably with heavy accents or poor recording conditions. There is no free tier, so you pay from the first minute.
